Do I need to have pottery experience?

No experience is necessary.  I guide everyone through the whole process and at each person’s pace too.

What should I wear?

I provide aprons to everyone so you can wear any clothes. If you do get some clay on part of your clothes it can be easily spot cleaned and washes out in the wash too.

What do I need to bring to the workshop?

Everything is provided, aprons, materials, tools. If you have some ideas for what you are making bring those and I can help with how to create that look.

Do I need to trim my nails?

Long nails make marks in the clay and requires more tidying on your piece.  I recommend trimming nails.

Can I book a private workshop for a group?

Yes, you can.  Private workshops are great for birthday parties, hen’s parties, work do. Social club, team building, Christmas functions or corporate events.

The minimum number of people is four and maximum 18.  Pricing depends on what workshops you choose.

For more information click here or contact Fiona to enquire about availability here.

Will I be using a wheel?

In all my workshops and classes, you will learn key hand building techniques. No pottery wheels are used.

What can I expect to create during the workshop?

This depends on what workshop you book, i.e. If you book a platter and dish workshop you will make a platter and dish.

Will my pottery be fired and glazed?

Yes, after you’ve completed your piece(s) and they are bone dry I will bisque and glaze fire them for you. All firings are included in the workshop price.

How do you instruct?

I demonstrate each step and help each person individually through the process depending on what stage they are up to.

Can I make extra pieces in the workshop?

Yes, I am happy for you to make an additional piece within the workshop timeframe.  All additional pieces will incur additional costs based on size to cover firings.

How long does a pottery workshop take?

Workshops take between 2 to 3 hours depending on which one you book.  If you book a group workshop and bring nibbles it can take an additional half an hour. Large groups (12-18 people) take a bit longer again.

Is there an age limit for participants?

I am happy for children to attend a workshop.  If they are under 10, I recommend an adult do the class with them.

What happens if I can't attend the workshop?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer any refunds or class swaps for change of mind or inability to make the class. Please check your own availability before booking as spaces for our classes are limited.

Are workshops wheelchair accessible?

We have wheelchair access into the workshop area just not to the toilet.

Can I take my pottery home the same day?

Your piece(s) need to be fired twice before they are usable.  The firing process takes a minimum of two months.
